More delays on delivery, with the depot crying out for the next train.
Another success story.

More delays on delivery, with the depot crying out for the next train. Really? This seems to contradict the view that you have always given - that the depot was behind and could not cope with another train. After the problems of the past week, how can the depot be sure there isn't another one hiding somewhere in the back? I mean, with everything hand-written, and with few of the car numbers matching the scrawled TAS sheets, there could be anything in there ;D

20901/905 are allocated to work a 4Z22 Chaddesden to Peterborough this afternoon now (hauling some GBRf coal wagons). Presume they will then pick up 20142/189 and take them to Wellingborough as originally planned.

Train 1 will most likely be down at some point, we are using it to get all the software mods correct first. You know how it is, you do a software mod then you check to make sure it's all good before proceeding. We could have had train 1 down any time we liked but took a deliberate decision to hang on to it at Old Dalby until we are satisfied with all the little bits and pieces.
On a seperate note, I inspected train 3 yesterday at Derby. It is currently spilt into seperate cars for testing, but is coming on nicely. I also inspected train 4 which has six cars off the line and again this is coming on very nicely too. The last two cars of train 4 are in an advanced state of production (the cab of the last DM is starting to really take shape) but still on the line itself. Train 5 has now also started to be assembled but is not yet on the production line itself.
We are moving at a pace now but will not rush things until we are happy that they are to our required standards.

22nd S stock? 22nd A stock withdrawal? 22nd April? Your 22nd birthday? 2022? If you are going post something worth reading, at least add a bit more detail to whatever point it is you wish to make.....

Maybe it's more cryptic than that. After all there is a space between the "22" and the "nd." Perhaps a hidden meaning. Perhaps something more than we all think. Perhaps some firm clutching of straws from passed-on rumours is afoot. Who knows ;D

Another change of date (possibly?) ADMIN WARNINGSeeing as the friendly approach didn't work, you are hereby warned that any future posts like this one - drip feeding pointless comments which mean nothing to anyone but yourself - will be deleted without notice.
Either post something that contains useful information, has a point to make or adds value; otherwise don't bother posting at all.

Am I right in thinking that the DMI at the top gives the train number? Why then has it been duplicated in the window? Or rather if the train number has concerns raised about visibility then could the same not be said about destination visibility to passengers?

I was thinking that. The DMI does give the set number. I personally don't like the new style of DMI. It is hard to see and doesn't photo well!! ;D

Whilst I can appreciate the concerns regarding the DMI on the front of the train, we had similar concerns when the refurbished D stocks came into service but things seemed to have settled down now with the internal screens in the cars and the external ones along the sides offering adequate back up.
S stock has the same, so I would expect that as people get used to the extra screens, there'll be less reliance on the front.
All that being said, I can certainly see the external train number being an issue internally - particularly with LU's reliance on CCTV to monitor the train service.

That wasn't delivery, that was test train operation. I am well aware of that, does it really matter?

That wasn't delivery, that was test train operation. I am well aware of that, does it really matter? Admin comment:That's up to you, the members . Feel free to start a new thread on S stock testing - although there is one already going: districtdave.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newfuturetrains&action=display&thread=12155That thread has so far been for out-of-hours testing though, so a new thread for service testing might be an idea. OTOH it's OK to leave it as it is. The forum staff are not going to fiddle - and Proboards STILL won't let us split/merge threads anyway. So guys - do what you think is best!!
