Thanks for those photos bengley, the train in my opinion looks good.

Am I right in thinking that the DMI at the top gives the train number? Why then has it been duplicated in the window? Or rather if the train number has concerns raised about visibility then could the same not be said about destination visibility to passengers? The front destination/set number DMIs were not working yesterday. The side ones showed "666", presumably " humourously". The train number, 745, was depicted using a hand-written paper sheet (south end) or loose set number books placed in the n/s cab window (north end).

I know it's hard to tell because of the refresh rate of the DMI screen and the camera picking it up badly, but it looks like it says 745 to me.

The DMIs were showing 666 on Saturday night and Sunday morning (left over setting from a test in depot last week). Reset to 745 when the relevant expert was on shift on Sunday afternoon. The DMIs on the side are not that bright when used from an overbridge but much brighter when viewed from station platform where they are aimed! When the full destination is shown, the side ones will only show the running number on the end cars. Wait and all good things will come...

Movement of S-Stock this week from Old Dalby? 66725 took the TEA barrier wagon tanks for a shakedown run from Old Dalby to Peterborough and back this afternoon. 20901/905/142/189 still at Wellingborough.

The DMI doesn't work the majority of the time as the CIS (Customer Information System) software is not up to date. As a result when we are testing in engineering hours we need to display a set number and so we use the old fashioned system! You will be pleased to know that we are using quality set numbers as supplied by Hammersmith Depot directly from the SSR Premiere 'C' Stock fleet. ;D

I was the late turn Operating Official on 745 and would not allow the train to run with '666' displayed anywhere. We should get the full CIS software soon.

prjb, does this mean that an old fashioned CIS is being used on the S stock?

prjb, does this mean that an old fashioned CIS is being used on the S stock? No, it just means we do not have the latest software version for the CIS. This will get updated at some point and then we will be able to use the full system properly. It is disappointing to send the train out with a make shift set number system but the CIS software is way down the list, in terms of priorities, for a train that will not see passenger service for quite some time yet (Trains 1 and 2 remain test trains and will be for a while).
