Thanks for the comments - I fear I may have misled you by using caption writer's licence. In reality the arrival of A stock here is probably quite some way off. a/ I don't even have any in the workshops yet! b/ I'm really unsure how to get the colour right for newly delivered aluminium stock. The EFE tubes aren't bad but could be better, and eg Metman has done great work with modern liveried A's, but 'freshly into service' A stock is really challenging me. Oh. I did miss that. Oh well.

Re. the J39s. 64955 was at Neasden until the very late 50s and that's now the number on mine! I think it was the last eastern loco based there after the midland took over. Top job on the 61XX by the way.

Looking good! As my layout 'Harrow-on-the-Hill' can feature trains from the late 30s to early 60s I bought an LNER J39. I need to weather this as the colour is as flat black as you can get. I'm looking for inspiration... I think guests can view galleries on rmweb? This chap has a substantially weathered J39: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/29214-class-j39-64841/Plus a few more pics if you hunt for them

Panic seems to be setting in with ‘management’ as the A Stock seems no nearer to delivery. A clearance trial has been run recently with a couple of Q stock cars. They’ve found a Q23 driver that’s about to enter works, and a Q38 trailer newly ex-works. Here the ensemble has arrived: A few more showing the bay clearance measurements taking place (by an absentee workforce): Afterwards the coaches were stabled in the yard awaiting haulage back to Acton. Editor’s note: In practice I only have 2 Q cars at the moment so it will be ‘some time’ before I can assemble a full 4 car rake. Both cars are from the old Little Bus Co range. Although Radley Models do some, I could really do with a Q27 or Q35 car, and the LBC models seem to rarely, if ever, come up on a well known auction site. All being well these should be on show at: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/calendar/event/503-thames-valley-model-rail-expo-2012/

Those cars look great, and so do the pics. Are there any plans of shooting some pics of steam and electrics side by side?

Colour film was very pricey in those days so our roving spotter had to be content with just a few pics as and when. I'll check in the archives and see if there's anything

I have downloaded a great LU set and i've acctually tried to model this station. lol. Sadly there are no curved platforms so i had to make it straight, but i tried.

Afraid I don't do pc games. My layout is DC - even DCC is advanced for me!

Aha. My layout also used to be DC. Before i took it apart. Anyway, i found a 4 screenshots of the set i was talking about, in case you're interested: www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=52664&start=60The screenshots are at the bottom of the page. At that time they were just "Work in progress". I did not make them.

Looking good. I pretty much got the go ahead to make Q27 and Q31/35 cars as the LBC have finished. What this space.....

You beat me with Q stock on the your layout though 3 Q coaches appeared for short while at Acton last weekend
Have you fitted couplings to them yet and if which ones?

I've used Bachmann Mark 1 bogies, but replaced the wheels with 12mm spoked one rather than 14mm ones supplied. The real Q stock of course had spoked wheels, but also I feel they sit better on 12mm. I've taken the couplings off the Q23 but not the Q38 so far. As I haven't got a complete Q set they're just for static display for now

Once my life is back to whatever passes for normal I shall finish my 6-car Q stock set! Quality job on yours. Nice touch with the barrier vehicle and the MET Brake van too.
