Does anyone know why the Piccadilly DVA is so rarely used? Beacuse it means you have to sit there and type the codes in every time that an announcement is used, also the minute an announcement is selected, it stops the destination scrolling inside, which is not very helpful. It cannot say alot of basic things such as 'This train is for XXX', which in my mind isnt too helpful!

I never realised that the DVA on the Picc was actually recorded by one of their train ops! I was on a Picc train going to work the other day when I heard a mind the gap announcement, made by the same voice of the DVA. When that same voice then apologised for the delay due to awaiting platforms at Acton town, that led me to the conclusion that either the DVA was an incredibly versatile tool with seemless announcements, or the T/Op was the voice behind the recorded DVA! ;D

So the DVA doesn't have an auto mode then? No, it is a manual system. For 'mind the gap' and 'stand clear of the doors' its good, otherwise i wouldnt use it. I know an I/O at acton that types in everything, so it is virtually in auto! It was done by an Arnos Grove driver IIRC. Correct, i cant remember his name, but i know he is a Greek chap, nice bloke, had a chat with him the last time i saw him at acton! ;D
