Ladies and Gentlemen,
The date for the Christmas meet has been set as Saturday 14th December 2013.
The Forum Staff are still working on the finer detail, however it is likely to follow our traditional format of a ride on the UndergrounD followed by a social period over beverages at a family friendly public house in central London. All members of the forum are welcome to attend, however we do ask that those under 18 years of age carry emergency contact details and inform their folks at home of their whereabouts - even better, bring them along too.
Full details of time and location will be communicated in due course.
We look forward to seeing you there,
The Forum Staff.

For new forum members, details of last years meet can be found here. Every meet I've been to so far has been great fun and I'm glad that I can make it this year!

I've got it in my diary - really looking forward to meeting everyone in real life, subject to not being called out Christmas shopping or anything like that.

....subject to not being called out Christmas shopping or anything like that. You wouldn't be the first person to leave a meet to go shopping, mrfs42 and I went to buy pudding.

Amazingly, no planned engineering work on the entire system that day !

Amazingly, no planned engineering work on the entire system that day ! There you go... you've now given the powers that be an idea... Ok roll up... roll up... who wants to start placing bets that someone in an ivory tower will now arrange engineering work for the 14th December... And it'll be... all... your... fault !!!

I'll pencil it in, but I think I have two other things on that day potentially, so will see.... or it might be like last year where I need to run off from the pub!

I've already told my family that all my Christmas shopping needs to be done by December 1st. Hoping to be able to come to this, but really depends on what's planned over the festive period with the Games Maker Choir.

I will more than likely be in attendance - I presume the details are still to be confirmed as to activities/location?

Dear all,
Herewith are the details for the Christmas Meet Social taking place on Saturday 14th December, which is also DStock7082’s birthday
We plan to meet at Arsenal station, on the Picc, given that this was SE13’s favourite place on the tube. Timings here are informative rather than prescriptive: not to tell people what to do but to give people who might join us along the way as much info as possible
We meet in the ticket hall for 10:50, touching in at 11:00 and catching the 1105 T4 train to Earl's court (arr 1131). We'll dawdle through the change to miss the 1137 (ex ERD) and catch the 1142 D Stock to Wimbledon (arr 1200), before getting the 1208 train through to Edgware Road arriving 1239. Oyster users may wish to alight here and take the short walk to the pub, as there will only be ten minutes remaining to complete your journey; for those less concerned we shall jump on the next Outer Rail train to Baker Street. For those who don't fancy the trip, it's from 1300 in the pub.
The venue for this year’s social is The Volunteer on Baker Street, right by the Sherlock Holmes’ museum and close to Regent’s Park. It’s a nice, family-friendly pub that has been used before now by several forum members, serving a wide-range of beers and decent food. If you’re coming from Baker Street station, take the side entrance exit, turn right, cross the road and go past the museum and it’s virtually on the corner.
The forum phone will be on from first thing in the morning. The number is 07952 212 016. Don’t be afraid to phone to ask for updates of where we are, where the pub is or if you can’t actually find us in the pub (though look for the friendly lot with the custard).
Under 18s are welcome in the pub until 10pm (their rules, not ours). Many of the people there, either from the Underground, retail or educational background, are DBS-checked (formerly CRB) if your parents ask. If you are under 18 please bring emergency contact details and have also informed your folks of where you are. Better still, bring them along.
We all look forward to seeing as many of you there, both old and new, alike.

I'm staying at Euston for the weekend, so will be heading to Arsenal from King's Cross at 1030, I'll be in the traditional DD place of the front DM.

Given the itinerary, how much is a one day travel card for whatever zones we're covering please? (would use my PAYG oyster, but as Rincew1nd has already pointed out, we'll be quite marginal by the time we're back at Edgware Road)

As I live near East Putney, I may cheat and not head up to Gillespie Road to meet up. (But I might).
