So how is the ELL coping with the extra passengers thanks to the lack of the Southern services south of New Cross Gate and additional passengers at Peckham Rye and Queen's Road Peckham?
Luckily I'm off work for the next two weeks, so avoided the joy of standing on a 378 in the peaks.

From a driver's perspective, it's been running pretty smoothly so far in the mornings (can't really comment for the evening as working earlies this week). There's was an odd slip-up with the signalling for one of the Canada Water shuttles yesterday, according to the plan with ELL signaller it was booked to continue up to Dalston Jct instead of turning around at the station, which resulted in a 10-min delay. Platforms are obviously more busier than usual during the peaks but with the enhanced service I doubt that passengers have had to wait too long between Sydenham and NXG to be able to board a train. The Clapham's have been struggling as it is the usual 15-min frequency, particularly at Peckham Rye and Queens Rd Peckham where a substantial number of passengers have had to wait for a few trains before they can get on. There's only so many times a driver can make an announcement encouraging passengers to use all available space!

I traveled off-peak on Wednesday and the enhanced 10tph service between NXG and Sydenham coped well, so well that the service from West Croydon was unusually quiet for a weekday.
However, I understand there was a signal fault at Sydenham today which closed the West Croydon and Crystal Palace services for a couple of hours in the evening peak. Apparently chaos at Canada Water.

Yes it was chaos. I was at Whitechapel, New Cross Gate and Canada Water and the information being provided was almost non existent. Not the fault of the station staff - they said that control was giving them little or no information about the whereabouts of trains and how long they would be. From my own observations, it seems that things were not handled as well as they might have been. At one point, there were 4 consecutive northbound trains terminating at Dalaton with no information regarding the next Highbury train. Heading southbound, the service was advertised as being suspended south of New Cross Gate. It seems that they were terminating some trains there, although these were very few and dar between. I boarded one such train, which eventually arrived at NXG. All of the passengers left the train, many of whom decided to leave the station in order to continue their journeys by bus. With the current works taking place there, a huge exodus of people were crossing the bridge onto the northbound platform which is currently the only way to leave the station. At that point, it was announced that the train which had just terminated would now be running through to West Croydon as the signal failure had been fixed. Cue many of the people who were leaving the station to turn around and head back to the trains. However, just as the throng of people were heading back, the train departed almost empty. The poor staff on the platform really copped it. Apparently they told the driver to wait but he just left anyway. Returnin northbound, 4 trains passed through NXG without stopping, presumably heading back to the depot because they were in the wrong place. You would think that at least one of these trains could have been allowed to run through in passenger service?
