I was going out to Heathrow Airport earlier and when I on the pic, I saw some interesting stuff/sightings. For example, I saw some maintenance rain (I think) at the Ealing Test track and I was wondering what it was doing? Afterwards, just outside of Northfields, I notice on the EB track a 15MPH warning sign that you would usually find only on national rail. How come thats in place? Then once I got off the train at Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 I saw a Cravens 1960 track recording unit. What was that doing at Heathrow?

The train on the Test Track is the Speno rail grinder, currently being brake tested to allow operation in traffic hours (it's had a tripcock fitted).
I suspect the 15mph restriction is over the junctionwork.
The TRV was out on Heathrow loop to calibrate its instruments, something which is done periodically on that section of track.
Regards,
Dan

I think here, driver123 is asking specifically about the sort-of triangular sign with a yellow border which warns of an upcoming permanent speed restriction. These aren't that common on LU (outside of the Network Rail tracks, of course) it seems, but I don't think this one is unique. Didn't there used to be one, pre-TBTC, on the northbound Northern line approaching Finchley Central, or was that something else?

I meant train. My computer froze for a moment hence the dodgy spelling. But if would be cool if LU's maintenance team did use mother nature lol

Thing is right the AW speed sign can be found on joint LUL and BR lines e.g Gunnerbury to Richmond but what I find unusual is finding the sign ONLY on LUL lines.

It's an advanced warning sign for a speed restriction that applies to engineers trains only
