Northern City Line question : 1959 stock and Higbury Branch

Having  a like for the 38  and 59  stock  since  I was a kid... (I was a kid  in the late 80's/early 90's and really like the designs of those particular trains )  I  was wondering  if the 1959 trains ever ran  the Moorgate   to   Dray ton Park branch

I  know  the 38's  did...but  I was wondering if was  just solely them for  a specific reason,  or if  the 59 stock ran on some of  it...or if it was possible  for a 59 to run on the branch

I can't recall ever seeing a non-red train on that branch. At the time it shut prior to transfer to NR, the 59 stock were still largely running on the Piccadilly line AFAIK so I'd think it extremely unlikely that they'd have ever appeared on the Northern City.

I would also assume that due to the large diameter tunnels, most underground stock could have run there subject to being able to reach Drayton Park depot, so a 59 should have theoretically been capable of operating.

To the best of my knowledge, the only stock which ran in the Highbury Branch were Standard Stock until 1966 and from then on 1938 Tube Stock. Whilst initially the allocation was drawn from the regular Northern Line fleet, after the link to Highgate Wood was severed a dedicated fleet was created at Neasden.

I believe that a train if 1960 stock did o nce run as a track recording train in the branch - I'm sure I've seen a photo of it being transferred to or from the line.

1959 stock wasn't released from the Piccadilly line until around 1975, so I'm not sure they were even operating in the main Northern line at the time the Highbury Branch closed.

"Owned by" would be a better description - until 1940 it had its own unique 4-rail electrification system, with positive on one side of the track and negative on the other (no centre rail). This worked because there was no way the trains could ever turn round.

(The CSLR also had an assymetric system, with a single live rail positioned between the rails but off-centre to avoid fouling the coupling gear. Again tyhere was no way a CSLR train could get back to front

The Northern City changed over from the outside current rails to the LT 3rd/4th rail system in May 1939.

The first 59 stock on the Northern ran in December 1975. The Northern City line closed for transfer to BR in October 1975.

Indeed, I should have added 'since the line was converted to the standard 4-Rail arrangement'...
