Seems a strange poll but to be honest it may reflect the high use age and levels of cleaning. I wonder what the sample numbers were?

Seems a strange poll but to be honest it may reflect the high use age and levels of cleaning. I wonder what the sample numbers were? Dependent on the number of people who were presumably paid to batter TfL property? Thanks, Time Out, for giving vandals the green light? I suspect most punters would be more concerned with finding a seat in the first place. And, having done so, would be fairly unlikely to bounce up and down on it stirring up the dust anyway. If they had concentrated on platform and line cleanliness, that's a much more useful area to highlight, if it isn't good enough.

I do know what it means, generally the carriages have a lot more 'tube dust' too. I think it gives the line character, but beware the underneath of the armrests!

The tops of the Piccadilly line seats are pretty filthy i.e. where the fabric bends round perpendicular to the windows. There are certain sections of the Piccadilly line where tunnel dust is abruptly rushed in through the vents. This is particularly apparent in the first car (in direction of travel) travelling Turnpike Lane to Manor House and vice versa. You have to hold your breath for a short time as sometimes it is a visible cloud! What's more, the foul smell is also apparent after negotiating the Brompton Bends on the westbound; this usually clears between South Kensington and Gloucester Road.

The foul smell after negotiating the Brompton bends (apart from 50% of the passengers) is probably caused by grease from flange lubricators
