Members,
Acton Depot are holding their Spring open weekend on 25 and 26 April.
Forum tradition dictates that the Saturday is one of our regular meets.
The meet starts around 2.30pm at the Red Lion and Pineapple at 281 High Street, Acton. This allows plenty of time for members to enjoy the depot (opening at 11am) at their leisure then make the short walk up the road to the pub.
New members are particularly welcome and can be assured that 'the usual suspects' will take you under their wing, if need be.
There will of course be a forum meet phone for people to contact each other, details of which will follow at a later time.
Any members under 18: we do ask that you carry emergency contact details with you, have parental consent (or even better, bring them along too) and some form of identity. For parents peace of mind, those working within the transport industry are CRB/DBS checked.
Any other thoughts and suggestions are welcome, and a rough idea of who will be attending is always helpful too.

I expect that I'll be in the pub at some point, but probably wont make it to the depot this time.

Will pop in once I have discharged duties at Acton (some point around 5:30-6pm), on the AMR all weekend. Are we planning to colonise our usual area, i.e. the raised area at the back?

As per SAWB's post above. Though I'm sure I'll bump into SAWB during the weekend anyway.

I'm on annual leave over the weekend, and planning to visit Acton anyway, so this sounds like a good excuse to come along and meet everyone...

I'm on duty in Met 353 all day, but will be finished by 1730. I'm sure the well appointed interiors could offer a fine mid-day meeting point.

My ticket arrived this morning. As I cant walk any great distance I won't be able to make it too the pub. The E3 bus stops pretty much at the door of both venues and runs about every 10 minutes. Turn left out of Museum Way, walk down the road about 60 metres to the bus stop and it's two stops on the bus. You need to get off at the stop for "Acton Fire Station". If you don't want to do the walk back, either get back on the E3, continuing towards Chiswick and get off at Turnham Green station, or walk 200-250 metres to Steyne Road stop C to get an E3 back to Acton Town station. For those coming for the first time and who are undecided about whether to walk from depot to pub, the walking distance between the depot and pub is 1km or 0.6 miles. Just checked on the E3 for Saturday, no planned disruption on that route.

Do treat the planned disruption on the buses with caution though. It was showing no planned disruption on the D7 for Sunday 26th last I looked, despite the majority of it's route being a marathon course that day.

Yes, marathon disruption always tends to go into the system late in my experience unfortunately. E3 is definitely not affected by the marathon though!

Is there any engineering work going on over the weekend? District and Piccadilly in particular?

Is there any engineering work going on over the weekend? District and Piccadilly in particular? No, full service both Lines mainly due to the London Marathon.

But this does mean that east and central London, particularly east of the Victoria line and south of the Central line are going to be extremely busy on Sunday.

Indeed, quite a few national rail operators running an amended timetable for all or part of the day due to expected crowd volumes. Southeastern in particular of course as they serve all three starting locations.

My outfit has arrived just in time: I'm going on the 11:30 Herne House tour which is a welcomed addition to the programme for the weekend, I'll be in the pub later too.

The last time I heard a call for Inspector Sands he was asked to report to the London End of platform 5 (I think) rather than the operations room. This was last Sunday at Paddington.

But I don't have a platform 5, never mind a "London End".

Alas, I don't think that I'll make it to Acton. (At least Acton Town had a platform 5 and a London End).

Are you do a special Acton 2015 photo quiz Chris? Unfortunately I haven't had time to prepare one, so there is no bonus quiz for this meet. Sorry.

That was a lovely afternoon, the final gathering in the pub was Rich32 Chris M compsci @cyberman arun metman and gantshill; a fair number of other members were seen in the depot during the day. Lots of lovely 3D printing was seen on the table, including a novel design of key-ring from the engineering team at Acton works.
