The forum Admins are aware that some members who have purchased tickets for Hidden London events (tours of Euston, Down Street and Clapham South stations), however are no longer able to make use of their tickets.
On Friday a post was removed that directly sought a buyer for tickets of Hidden London tours.
The Administrators do not want the forum to become an informal selling-on site that could be taken advantage of, featuring Underground memorabilia being offered at inflated prices (such posts have been removed in the past). The moment the staff allow any reselling, this sets a precedent that potentially becomes the thin end of the wedge. At worse, members could be fraudulently sold tickets/items that do not exist and besides suspending accounts, the forum staff have no mechanism to assist those who have lost money. Consequently a forum rule exists of:
(6g) Advertising an item for sale, or seeking to directly solicit specific item(s) from the forum membership is not permitted on this forum. The posting of links to item (s) already listed with a website designed for the purpose (such as eBay) is fine providing you consult with an Administrator first.
The Admins have approached the organiser of the Hidden London tours, the London Transport Museum, to identify how it views the reselling of tickets and what buyers should do.
If ticket holders are unable to use the ticket, the LT Museum is happy for tickets to be sold on at a value not greater than the original cost of the ticket.
Ticket sellers using eBay or other legitimate reselling sites should therefore use the 'Buy now' feature. Once available for purchase sellers should approach forum staff providing the link to the item you intend to resell so we can confirm that a post may be made on the open forum.
New ticket holders should contact the LT Museum on 020 7565 7298, so the name/identity change can be recorded against the ticket - there will be a charge of £1 applied by the Museum.
