I touched upon this subject in a thread recently and today we've had another example of an abbreviation being used without prior explanation of its meaning.
Please, it's common courtesy to use the full length phrase initially with the abbreviation in brackets afterwards to indicate its meaning so that everybody else is left in no doubt as to what the poster is referring to if the abbreviation surfaces again. Assuming that people will understand without explanation is not good posting practice and rather poor form IMHO, particularly as we are experiencing an upsurge in new membership who may well not have the experience of those already here.
It's not a major inconvenience to follow this idea and will save me pulling people up on it in future, which I've no real wish to do. Note that this is not up for discussion......

POLITE REQUEST
And we will bump this one again as recently there has been an increase of unexplained abbreviations and acronyms.
If you are using an abbreviation / acronym that isn’t in everyday use, it’s helpful to explain the meaning in brackets. It saves members being confused, and also staff time in editing posts.
TYFYC (Thank you for your cooperation)

This is happening quite a lot lately. Could we ask that members re-read the repeated guidance in this thread. Thank you for your co-operation.
