I'm wondering whether Video 125 have got a fact wrong as there would still have been access via the spiral staircase, just perhaps not the space or clearance to take bags worth of video recording equipment down there. City Road certainly was available as an emergency evacuation point in the 00's and until the remaining fragment of the station building was demolished. The former lift shaft was fitted out with a spiral staircase during it's fit out as an air raid shelter during WW2. Whilst all other works related to the stations wartime past have been removed, the staircase has remained in situ. That is, until the works for the heat extraction project started, I haven't heard what has become of the station since then.
