It ceased operation in October 1975 when LT handed the Northern City Line to BR, but this video shows the rails being lifted for future use on the Ffestiniog railway in Wales.

The top left hand corner of Wales is well know for being the origin of the world-wide railway preservation movement; the 'preservation pioneers' took what they were given and were glad of it. Be it the Ffes' using rail from Drayton Park, or the Talyllyn using rail from Cliff Quarryand/or the Channel Tunnel. I could go on, extolling how the quarries and associated railways of North Wales "roofed the world" (the Broad Vein of Bryn Eglwys at the very least roofed Westminster), however there's already a UNESCO World Heritage Site bid in progress so I shall refrain.
