The first inset is presumably another one of Dmitri's Soviet war memorial pics. This one looks like the one from Treptow Park in what used to be East Berlin.

I'm going to take a guess that Inset 4 is around Allerton Junction near Liverpool

Inset 3: Centraal station, Brussels [ londonstuff ] (click for a larger version) I have no idea if it’s around Allerton Junction, but Liverpool makes it close enough for me. Inset 4: Liverpool South Parkway - signal AN53 [ rincew1nd ] (click for a larger version) Still looking for insets 1 and 2.

I'm going to take a guess that Inset 4 is around Allerton Junction near Liverpool Correct. Allerton Jct is immediately South of Liverpool South Parkway (née Allerton) station. Following the Weaver-Wavertree resignalling control of this area was passed to Manchester Rail Operations Centre and Allerton Jct 'box has been recently demolished. The signal in my picture has now been replaced.
