Hi all, Not sure where to put this on the forum as it's not underground, but it is LT and it is history... Another photo added to my site: geoff-plumb.fotopic.net/p35085579.htmlIt's about the only colour photo I have taken of LT Trolleybuses more or less intact (I have a few B&W pictures of them working), though I do have another with partially dismantled examples. If there are any experts out there that could fill in a few details, I'd be very grateful once again. Although the buses concerned came from Fulwell depot, I think I recall taking the photo at Colindale depot around July 1962 (should have made better notes, but I was only 13 years old then). Anybody know anything further? Once again, thanks in anticipation! Regards, Geoff

He is the third person I have come across who has revealed that they were at Feltham on this sad occasion. The other guy and I were standing [me with my parents] at Feltham level crossing gates in Bedfont Lane and we obviously had no idea of each other's presence until at leat 25 years later! Geoff was I would say a 1/2 mile or so away from me the other side of Hounslow Road overbridge at that instant! The baggage van with the coffin is it seems destined now to be sent back to the UK from the USA. I then next saw WINSTON CHURCHILL at Didcot in 1980. Note the yard clock tower in the distance. The land is now partly built on, and partly returned to heathland. Note also the two resident 08 or 09 shunters, and on the Up Windsor line the two bracket semaphores for Hounslow Junction, the left being for the Hounslow Loop. There was an unusual single bracket semaphore at Feltham Up platform end, which was a few inches off the Hounslow Road road bridge wall. This protected the coal yard siding. Oh Geoff! That Class 73 with the coal train would have been from the Charrington's [?] coal depot next to Tolworth station in Kingston Road, on the Chessington South branch and would have worked via Raynes Park to Wimbledon. At the time Raynes Park Goods was still extant with the Ground Frame.

Ah, Colindale. All those scrappers and no security. One of my (still) treasured possessions is an upstairs bell push liberated from one of those wonderful machines - and I think I too was there in '62!

Crikey, it's amazing what a simple link to a photo opens up! Thanks for the replies so far, and also David for the link to the trolleybus site - fascinating!
Thanks also to Hindenburg & Phil for the confirmation of Colindale as the site of the picture.
Thanks to DavidH again for the link to the picture of Churchill's funeral train and filling in some of the local background of Feltham, also for filling in some detail for the 73 at Wimbledon.

The 73 has a 55 headcode:
"Slade Green/Stewarts Lane and all points via East Putney (non-passenger)"
So it could be going via East Putney and Point Pleasant Junction to Stewarts Lane. Did they use coal for heating in those days in the works? Or was it heading to SG or SL and thence to somewhere else?

Ahh trolley buses, I remember as a boy in mitcham in the 60s, getting on outside the ABC and travelling to the cricket green on these silent but wonderful vehicles, and then the fun and games as they turned at the cricket green and the poles coming off, oh yes golden memories
