Are there enough staff though?

I believe that they abandoned that idea after trials. Apparently, it kept getting gapped. What do you mean by getting gapped? Where all of shoes which pick up traction current are over a section gap, meaning that the train cannot draw proper, and thus cannot move.

Wasn't the whole point of the short set use that it meant they had two half sets not in use, and if that is not the case any more, how is the work being done? Correct!

Pretty sure none have run in passenger service.

Are any significant changes planned? Nothing on the cards for the remainder of the year, what have you heard? aslefshrugged mentioned it in the engineering works thread.

Presumably it was a scissors crossover when the line opened (as it was the terminus), so should still be possible.

There is a crossover there already, unless I’ve misunderstood your post?

Trains running into Brixton can enter the platforms at full line speed due to the overruns. Even with ATO, there are no overruns at Battersea meaning a slower entry and thus lower maximum frequency.

Im sure that some P86 or P89 Stock where converted to SELTRAC and was running on the Beckton Extension on the day of opening I don’t think so. I was there on the opening day, and only saw B90 / 92 stock.

We have scrapped bubbles in schools, so the fact that they are still being used on TFL is astounding. For 99% of people, Covid is no worse than a bad cold / flu, and even more so for the double-jabbed.
We need to be doing everything within our powers to get life back to normal, which includes being able to run full-strength train services.

So the question remains, will they make a call later today to go into passenger service. I'm refreshing twitter with bated breath. I doubt that anything will be announced until (and if) it happens.

Are trains running empty to Battersea today under the new timetable?

Kennington to Morden will have to cope with 25-26tph.

Can we avoid discussion on any future extensions in this thread please. If you want to go down that route (pun intended 😂), head over to the RIPAS board.
Thanks all.

We should have a sweepstake; how long before the points at Queensway fail Last time it was used for weekend works was 2015 - it held up all weekend I think!

The Victoria line is built to have trains running at high speeds. I don't think the central section of the Northern line and the distance of those stations are helping with that... I think the real pinch point is Camden Town. Not sure that CBTC is thwt good at getting the best capacity out of the junctions.

Train construction and fire retardancy have come a long way over the years, so fires are rarely serious these days.

Just because the line can theoretically achieve 32tph, does not mean it is wise to schedule it. Rolling stock available, probably insufficient for a start, and even if not, to put a timetable at absoloute maximum capacity is going to give you a 90% chance that on any given day by the end of the peak that the whole line is running late. It just does not make sense to do that. Every timetable should have some slack, somehow, for robustness. But surely 32tph isn’t the maximum that can be achieved? And doesn’t the Vic line (with 36tph) operate at pretty much the theoretical capacity. I know it’s a much simpler line, but there’s pretty much no slack at all.

Not directly linked to the refurbs, but I have been amazed at the number of lights which haven’t been working inside the trains recently. Almost every train I have seen has lights out in every carriage, with some having almost half not working.

Agreed - a bit confusing to invite passengers to change for a service which doesn’t yet exist.

On the digital announcements on the new Greater Anglia class 720 trains, the message to change to the Elizabeth line at Shenfield has been replaced by TFL Rail.

book 1 by Robert, on Flickr book3 by Robert, on Flickr I have tried to upload an image of the cover, the frontspiece, and a fold out map inside the back cover but I cannot make the images show. I put them on flickr first. Where's the attachments button? The book cost me £3.25 and probably bought at one of the old museum sites, maybe Clapham. I don't remember going to Syon Park. Having seen this image, I'm sure I borrowed the book from my local library as a child. Takes me back!
