Are you serious ?? I would have thought LT Staff Pass holders would get in for free!! You are telling me they have to pay a tenner like everyone else ?? That is a bit of a p*** take, especially to members of staff based at Upminster !!!!

I expect to be protecting the 38 from maurauding feet for at least one of the days. Is there any consensus yet as to which day most people are planning on going?

The link works now, however to get to book tickets this is a better URL Click hereGood News! In addition it states that as well as Freedom Pass holders etc have concessions, TfL staff and partners are invited free of charge. You do need to phone the museum though to book your free ticket on 02075657298 [EDIT] Apologies can't get the link to work as a hyperlink. Edit - fixed TC

The T fL website link is now working too: I think the foot note is particularly worthy of repeating here, especially if the current warm weather holds up: Please note: Upminster depot is an operational site. Certain areas may not be suitable for people with restricted mobility and all visitors should ensure that they have appropriate footwear (no flip flops, sandals or high heels).

How much is it to get in ? Prices & relevant links are in this very thread. and whats going to be there? from another thread:....... Well the newsletter, received yesterday, said it was hoped to include - the 1938 Tube Stock, Sarah Siddons plus 4-TC, S Stock mock-up, R Stock car, Q Stock car and maybe a class 66 loco. That was pretty much everything (train wise) mentioned to myself by the DDM, along with a C stock, a battery loco or two and either the track recording train or the asset inspection train.........however..... The depot staff are only realistically expecting to see half that lot for two main reasons: 1) the engineering works out on the main line will mean that all rail stock has to be within depot limits by close of traffic on the Friday. 2) the yard will be rather full with D stock as a result of the aforementioned engineering works - whether there is enough rail space to accommodate the whole lot and allow room to shunt stock around, so that the D stocks are railed in position for service after the open day, remains to be calculated. Naturally it would be awesome if they could assemble all of the above, but don't be surprised if something ends up getting dropped. There's a whole lot more being planned, such as viewing under some of the rail stock via the shed pits, a D stock car lifted in the lifting shop with the bogie's removed, various stalls selling transport related items, food stalls, static bus displays, other vehicles or areas of the business (ie, ERU, school liaison, HR), etc, etc. The Upminster depot staff, who are part of what was Metronet, are so enthusiastic about this event & are putting in such an effort to ensure it's success that I suspect it really will be something very special.

Don't know if it's appeared on any of the publicity yet, but the Acton Miniature Railway is going on tour, and we'll be providing rides there with the 7.25" guage 38TS on a portable track.

As a related aside, I caught a lift on the 38ts this morning purely by chance. It was being moved from the Museum ready for the Open Weekend and stopped outside the building where I had just finished a meeting regarding 'S' stock delivery. It is looking very, very nice!

Unfortunately the moves of Sarah Siddons and the 38TS to Upminster are basically taking place after dark.

Staff and their "partners" are being allowed free entry, according to a bulletin on the intranet. If only I had known prior to booking two tickets. Oh well, refund now being sought.

According to the LT Museum website i see that the '38 Stock is now booked to run passenger from Upminster to Ealing Broadway (reversing via HSt. Ken too!).
A date of Fri 4 September has been mentioned? Bookings available through Museum again?

i had word from someone yesterday that the depot will be open from 11.00 - 16.00 I can confirm that the times are actually 1100 till 1800, both days. Sorry, I'm confused. I've got three different sources saying three different times, the LT Museum website saying 11 to 4, another saying 11 to 5 and Colin saying 11 to 6. Can somebody please clarify which of these is correct?

With the METRO article on Monday stating 10am start (which a few thousand people may have read) it should lead to interesting scenes at the gate!

I had a call from the Museum, as I had ordered tickets, to confirm the 1100 start - the Metro advert was printed in error, and apparently some tickets have also got 1000 on them in error too.
As for the various finishing times, the only one that's really important is the last admission time - 1600.

Excellent! All in darkness! Hope the event goes well but it's unfortunate that there will be very few photo opportunities associated with it.

I understand that both the Q35 and R Stock went by road from Ealing to Upminster today. Certainly there was a lot of movement at the rear of The Depot at around 11.30.

The obvious viewpoint fot the "C" is Upminster looking down from the roadbridge. A public area off LU premises. Of course then there's the Met Police to worry about...
