We have now changed the number of 'recent posts' button to 50 after the democratic vote produced this majority result. This is on the basis of there not being any problems of crashing in practice. If you have problems with it loading too slowly or crashing, please PM an admin (preferably me since it's my doing ) and if there are too many complaints we'll look at it again.

Works fine as far as I can see - loaded in around 1 second for me

Thanks to Phil and all the admins, no problems at all with speed, and even with the 50 most recent posts we are only capturing the last 11 hours.

Worked fine at 50 for me too. Since it still only gets the last 11 hours of new posts, perhaps the admins can program in some delays in allowing new posts! Perhaps something simliar to a few "line closures", "signal failures", "personal needs breaks", etc! All kidding aside - this effort is much appreciated!

OK - Proboards search speed seems to have increased greatly since I last tried it. I've upped it to 60 as a trial - hopefully helping those that want more than 11 hours of posts .

The increase to 60 has had no effect on the loading speed for me. Works just fine:)

Well, the world is now online, and it seems to be working just fine. In fact, I think I'll go one further by saying that the 60 most recent posts actually seem to load quicker than the 35 most recent posts!

I've not noticed any difference in page loading time either - thumbs up!
Although when I loaded the page a few minutes ago when I got back from work, I only had the last 10 hours posts such has been the number of posts today - any chance of considering going to 75 posts please, if it doesn't cause any problems?!

I don't use the facility myself, so am open to recommendations of those that do. I've now tested 70 on various browsers and in various ways and it seems to be just about as fast (a small tad slower IMO). So 70 it is for now!
Keep reporting!!

Whilst it is great that the forum is so busy at the moment, not everyday is as busy as the next - can I suggest it's left for a little longer than 2 or 3 days so that we can see if the daily posting rate does indeed justify another increase?
We do have peaks & troughs, with warm summer days seeing people outside more and consequently spending less time indoors online - equally, as we're now getting colder weather in the UK, people are starting to spend more time indoors and online. The current daily posting rate therefore could be a little inflated.
It should also be noted that the maximum number of posts this facility can provide is 100, so there is an ultimate limit folks!

Colin is right (as usual!) and anyway Proboards may not keep the super-fast search for long, knowing them!!
So don't expect another change in the forseeable future, but let us know if things slow down: as I said above, we tend not to use it.

Would the faster search be down to faster Broadband speeds rather than Proboards system, or even a combination of both. I have found my Broadband has speeded up over the last month or so.

Would the faster search be down to faster Broadband speeds rather than Proboards system, or even a combination of both. Very possible, although I don't think Proboards have ever got any quicker. Less and less people are using dial up (if it still exists) these days, so pictures can be larger, load speeds are quicker and features such as this should work effectively. However, the servers and bandwidth often dictate what we can do on the interweb.....
