Staying on topic, but "off line" I understand the Piccadilly Line also had "fire brigade safety" issues yesterday, with up to 17 cancellations during the day and consequential gaps, mostly because of unavailability of crews at the east end - Arnos Grove and Cockfosters were more full of trains than they should have been. This was rather unfortunate because the Picc was supposed to have a 10-minute service to Uxbridge in lieu of the Met Line suspension. Yet I didn't notice any delay messages, 'minor', 'severe' or otherwise, but perhaps I blinked and missed them. Perhaps the "mushroom" system of information is still alive and well, if you know what I mean

I was waiting 12 minutes for a Westbound Picc train at Arnos Grove on saturday. Despite starting At Arnos, it was rammed by Finsbury Park.

Forgot to say, whiteboard at Arnos Grove said there was severe delays due to staff shortages.

I used it from West Hampstead to Green Park about 13.30 and it seemed fine – 4-minute intervals advertised, though a couple of mins late starting, and unexceptional run to Green Park. Choppy ride, seemed to accelerate too much then immediately compensate. Interestingly, every pre-station announcement came twice in quick succession. The substitute bus from Willesden Green was diabolical; stuck everywhere in its absurdly circuitous route through Cricklewood and Kilburn, pity anybody who actually has to get anywhere by a particular time...

I hear more TBTC action this weekend coming too? Same or similar to last weekend, except line shut Stratford to Waterloo for some reason. Might just be Saturday though?

On the subject of TBTC testing - is it running passively at the moment? Whilst travelling between (I think) Canary Wharf and Canada Water today westbound there was a nice blue signal in the tunnel (not the PED light at the end of the station). This would suggest that it was being used in some way or another.

Confusing when TBTC signals have blue aspects.

Presumably Charing Cross has been upgraded to TBTC as well? As I do believe some of today's (well yesterday's now) were caused by (and I quote from the announcer at Baker Street) "a signal failure in the Charing Cross area"

What is the feasibility of returning CC to passenger service when the Jubilee is closed between Green Park and Stratford anyway? Or running it as a branch line?

Was that before the escalators were decommissioned and anchored down?

Is it possible to use it during severe disruption by using the stairs as a means of egress?

Is it possible to use it during severe disruption by using the stairs as a means of egress? Apart from not having (AIUI) all the safety thingies fixed (English word escapes me!), I see no reason why fixed stairs can't be used - many other stations rely on this - Wembley Park (also has an elevator I believe) and Mill Hill East (stairs only).

Might be a good idea to fix in all the safety features, so it can be used as an emergency means of egress, esp' is the line is suspended east of Green Pk.

I believe District trains go down to Northfields sometimes, and Piccys to Ealing Broadway (no idea about Met to Stanmore, but I think it could've been done before they resignalled the Jubbly!), no need to raise hopes by drawing it on the map either! ;D (Thinking about it, Olympia to Gloucester Road was impossible too according to the map)

It would help tho'; already it has been used for reversals... Being able to tip out at CX would mean tipping out to empty space, rather than crowded platforms at Green Pk. Crowded platforms are never good.

I see the latest news on the completion of the Jubilee Line works is that they now continue until Spring 2011 www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11695450Excuse my (inevitable) cynicism, but haven't we had a completion date of about 6 months away being constantly announced for the last couple of years? If I were a betting girl, I would give anyone a £10 bet that it won't be completed by the Olympics. Further comment superfluous ........

They've started testing it in passenger service - that's only can be done if the whole thing is reasonably close to the completion. I think Spring 2011 sounds realistic now (particularly May 31st ).
