I would have thought it more economical to keep one of the branches as the 'Northern line' so as to minimise station sign modifications.
My vote would be to have the High Barnet - Kennington via Charing Cross kept as the 'Northern line' because it doesn't go as extensively into south London. The Edgware - Morden via Bank would be named something different.
