The "Big Plan" posters that are everywhere around the east end of the Central Line at the moment talk about the Jubilee line upgrade being completed "This spring".

Yes I noted in the 'Our Upgrade Plan' booklet I picked up today that it still the hope to complete the upgrade in 'Spring 2011'. It made me wonder whether if all goes to plan, it is the intention to enhance and speed up scheduled point to point timings with the introduction of a new Jubilee ine timetable from the 22nd May 2011. We shall see.

Commissioned in two sections only now - first one is in, Dollis to Stanmore is the 2nd bit, so it is all done once this section is complete. Spring 2011.........hmmm I wonder?

We shall see. Next Jubilee timetable (WTT11) due 31 July. Last thing I heard was that the General Manager said 'not before July' so that would make sense. Has WTT11 been finalised? I'm dying to see it (can't believe I'm saying that about a poxy train timetable)! Speeds into platforms are still unnecessarily slow Dollis Hill - Finchley Road both roads. It may seem relatively trivial but it does make me wonder how closely these things are monitored. More than once I've overheard people moaning coming into Finchley Road at a snail's pace when they are trying to connect with a Met train. There has also been a 15 mph limit on the approach to Baker Street southbound for past few weeks (because of dust?) and a 25 mph either side of Willesden Green (no idea of the reason). One thing I've noticed is that the regulation of trains is not 'dynamic', i.e, the speed for the next section has been set according to your timing reaching the station and will go at that speed regardless of how long you are waiting in the platform - obviously subsequent station-station speeds will be increased accordingly to get the train back on time. E.g., was running on time at Canning Town on the west, held in platform for about three minutes due to a problem behind me, then restricted to 15 mph all the way to chokka platform at North Greenwich. Other aspects are really impressive, though, have to admit.

Hey tubbytube - I'd be interested on your views as to exactly what you find impressive about the new system - from your perspective.

I think that the third platform at Stanmore was physically finished while Ken was still mayor. At rate things are going he could be mayor again before it's officially opened! Is it the longest time between building a platform and it being used in regular service?

OT but I think some of the original Bakerloo platforms were built long before first use.

Hey tubbytube - I'd be interested on your views as to exactly what you find impressive about the new system - from your perspective. Mainly the ability to get the service back on time after problems occur. Whereas before ATO quite a minor incident could hamstring the line for hours, it tends to get back to 'normal' much more quickly now. I am also pleasantly surprised with the lack of issues at PED stations and generally berthing correctly in platforms, even in wet weather conditions in open sections. There are a lot of negatives too, I have posted about them before, but just wanted to acknowledge that it is not all doom and gloom and today was quite uneventful!.

According to a presentation I've seen, current plan is as follows. ~ Planned date for handover is end of April 2011 ~ All signals from Dollis Hill to Stanmore will be removed ~ New signage and Direction Indicators (DI) installed ~ Automatic Train Control signals located at Neasden platforms ~ Neasden Depot entry and exit tracks looped ~ Tripcocks latched up and eventually removed from the train
