My heart goes out to Dave's family. I know what they must be going through as I only lost my Mum two weeks ago. It's still raw.
I never met you but RIP Dave. This forum is a great legacy.

Although I was aware that Dave was unwell of late, I did not realise how far this had developed.
In fact, I only recently sent him a PM, about things which now seem trivial and unimportant!
He had been very kind, understanding and helpful to me when I first joined the forum.
My condolences to his family.
Rest in peace Dave.
Andy

I would like to say that District Dave, through the creation of his website and this forum, was a shining example of how sharing an interest with others can bring people together.
Although I have not met anyone from this forum in 'real life' I feel a part of it and glance at it nearly every day...
Through the course of my everyday life, it it were not for this website, I would have no contact with anyone directly connected to London Underground.
I think it takes a special person to create such a community from nothing and for that I will remember District Dave.

It's amazing how a man can do actions that make you feel so happy without you even meeting him. I must say Dave is one of these men, and his website and this forum are those actions.
Rest In Peace Dave, you are a true inspiration. Condolences to his family and friends of course.

Legend. I met him for the first time back in March 2007, and he was a true gent. Bought me a round to say 'Congrats' (as I pretty much got the job on LUL back around that time) and I'm so glad I was able to buy him one to say 'Thanks' for all the help and advice. I'll never forget when he told me he could play guitar though (we were talking about music, as I have been a musician myself) and his eyes would really light up talking about it and him telling me he used to play in band. I refused to believe him – until of course he should me a photograph of him on stage rocking out on his guitar at a later date at work! Knowledgeable as well as totally cool. ;D He was a very considerate and empathetic individual, and somebody who had time for everybody, regardless of whether or not he knew them personally – he was always willing to help others and impart knowledge and wisdom. My thoughts go out to his family and loved ones, but I think it is a comfort to know that whilst it is a loss of loved one and somebody highly valued and respected by many, his spirit will be around for quite some time yet, through his site and this forum, as well as all the memories he has shared with others.

R.I.P Dave
I remember sitting opposite him on a Met line train once
Perhaps LU should name an S7 Stock after him
