I'm deeply saddened to read about this.
I didn't know Dave personally but did see him in the Video 125 production.
Belated condolences to Dave's family and friends.

It is very difficult to know what to say when so many wonderfull things have been said by people who knew him well. I confess that I never met him but I kind of got a feeling that I would have liked him, there are many things on his website that made me smile when I read them. I am certain that he is in a better place, probably discussing their undergroud system!

I know I am a little late, but account approvals are taking a while.
I just wanted to say I have been a lurker here for years, and really appreciated all the work Dave put into this site over the years.
I hope this forum can live on bearing his name for many years.
My condolences to his family.

I`ve been entertained, amused and informed by "District Dave" for quite a few years and have only just returned after being off-line for a couple of years. So I`ve only just learnt of the very sad news of the loss of David. I never met David, but felt a kindred spirit in our love of the LU. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
RIP Dave, you will forever be missed and never forgotten.

I've heard of District Dave before (as if I couldn't have done so what with the name of this forum!) and I never heard anything bad or negative. Sadly I never had what would without a doubt have been the greatest of pleasures of meeting him in person.
I remember the day I heard about Dave's passing. Sunday 20th March 2011. I was online and chatting to a friend when he mentioned it, I assume after having just logged into this very forum and then seeing the announcement. A sad day indeed.
My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends for their loss.

I'm sure the MODs wont mind me bumping this thread... Just spent some time reading from the District Dave website and if no-one has read the story of District Dave, then they should, it's a fantastic read and I'm sure still brings a tear to even someone who has read it many times... Take a look guys www.districtdave.co.uk/html/district_dave.html

... still well managed.... Metman is absolutely right. It is a sad to hear the vitriol, contempt and rudeness in so many people's attitudes this days. As an example I, for my sins, am a lifelong Arsenal supporter but I have long since stopped visiting the Gooners Web forum simply because of the foul language. DD discussions, however are generally courteous, respectful of differing opinions, helpful and informative and at times good amusing fun. I am sure Dave would indeed be proud.

Can't believe it's been a year. Agree with the comments that Dave would be proud that his legacy has continued through this site.

Apologies for a double posting, but for those members who may not be aware of the intermittent invasion by District services onto the Piccadilly... HERE IS DAVE'S LITTLE ADVENTURE TO SOUTH HARROW that I brought over to his new site from his former Trainweb pages... NEW TALESAs an aside if any LU staff have little tales of their own, please get in touch with me... I'd be happy to build up a little library for the amusement of others/everyone else

It's 3 years today since District Dave passed away... nope, I can't believe it either...
Being present at his funeral, watching life experienced railwaymen/women openly weep continues to have a profound effect upon me... and made me appreciate just how highly he was thought of by his colleagues...
Dave, you are still remembered....

Dave, you are still remembered.... He died only a couple of weeks after my Mum. I think about my Mum all the time but I also thought about Dave on Saturday when I was getting a District Line train from Acton Town to Ealing Broadway. I was almost willing the signal to give the wrong road at the junction! Rich'

I took a few minutes out to re-read Dave's old website (and ChrisW's new version). It made me realise just how helpful Dave was to me back in 2005 when I first met him. His enthusiasm for the Underground re-kindled my interest in the system.
As 'xercesfobe' says above, this forum and it's members are a a fine legacy.

How time flies. I'm sure Dave is an active part of that great Underground system in the sky, where a heavenly service is always guaranteed.
I'm sure he'd be very honoured to know that his forum has continued to go from strength to strength. One of life's good guys.

Unfortunately I never got the chance to meet this amazing man- however as I was a VERY frequent user of the tube 2008-2010 and I hope that I had at least been travelling in a train driven by Dave.
The forum he's created is now a one-stop shop for London Underground related questions and more.
