Were there any serious problems with the 1983 stock other than the single leaf doors causing trouble on the platforms? I've heard that the train equipment was fairly similar to that of the D-stock, and looking at the interior there is also a striking resemblance. How were they to drive, compared to other stock?
Also, are there any preserved units, or 83-stock turned into engineers trains?
Best Regards, Jimmy S

are there any preserved units Hello Jimmy, There's an 1983 Stock Driving Motor Car in the Acton Town Depot Musuem - If you pop along to the next Open Day you will easily find it inside along with 1938 stock, 1986 and R stocks. I believe there was also another 1983 Driving Motor car somewhere in Neasden Depot, I'm not sure if it's still there though. Best wishes, Christopher.
