Indeed, you can get to Rickmansworth by local Herts bus services (on a Sunday/Bank Holiday, expect to wait a bit though!) or go south to Kenton and walk about 5 minutes to Northwick Park taking the scenic route

Couple of quick questions if I may: 1) Is it the intention to run an empty 4-car 'A' Stock train into the Bay Road at Chalfont as a test prior to Sunday or will the first train on Sunday into the Bay be empty - just to make sure the infrastructure / signalling equipment still does what its supposed to? 2) I realise this might be a little far-fetched given the length of track involved, but what requirements apply in respect of driver route knowledge retention?

I'll be there somehow. How far is it to walk from Watford Junction to Watford (MET)? I'm not good with buses! I'd allow half-an-hour for the walk. Alternatively, there is usually a long line of cabs outside Watford Junction station, plying for hire!

There are drivers who may have had such gaps between driving it when it ran on a daily basis. Technically they are at liberty to ask for a pilot into the bay on their first trip - this eventuality has been covered. The majority of drivers from the depot supplying them would probably be offended if you offered them such a thing ;D

As I can't imbibe afterwards (2am start the following morning) I may well drive up. M25 on a bank holiday.... Nice! That having been said, I don't suppose trains from Watford (MET) will be going north anyway!

Either way, the obstacle has been sighted beforehand and will be addressed should it arise on the day. Therefore, a waste of hot air no doubt generated by a sugar rush from the buns. Perhaps, during your duty on Friday you could come to the control room and see the plans

Is the Jubilee running to Wembley Park? If so, what is the frequency of the buses from there?

Jubilee seems fine - and the frequency of each bus is about 5-10 mins-ish. There are 2 buses from Wembley Park, one calling at Preston Road and Northwick Park, then HOTH, West + North Harrow and Rayners Lane. (Is the Picc running an enhanced frequency to cover the gaps to Uxbridge?) The second bus calls at WPk, HotH and then all stations to Northwood (and West Harrow as well)

Still, it gives me an opportunity to share a couple of pictures from last December. Indeed a couple of pictures of the headboard that someone won. Funny how over the period of just 8 months the potential value of that headboard has probably dwindled to less than the value of the value rivets holding it together ;D

Perhaps future headboards should carry a caveat with the word "probably" inserted somewhere, or a disclaimer at the bottom of it!
Sure I saw a 1967 out on the Vic the other day . . . . . joke!

Here are a couple of my photo's from earlier today. www.flickr.com/photos/steve09photos/with/6089671045/When I arrived (on a Amersham bound train), upon arrival at Chalfont, the driver said through the PA system that anyone wanting Chesham should stay on the train Amersham, where a taxi would then take them onwards to Chesham. I, ignoring this after seeing the A-stock in platform 3 alighted and walked over, and was suprised to find that the doors were all closed and there wasn't any sign it would be moving any time soon. Then, the driver came over, opened the doors, and after a long wait, roughly 30 mins, we set of for Chesham. Possibly a crew shortage which meant the shuttle didn't operate from the begining of traffic hours?

Shamelessly retouched the front of the train in photoshop to make it look more presentable, but here it is at Chesham with driver Mike Fennessy an hour ago. Return of the shuttle by Bengley1, on Flickr

:)That looks superb! If only they could have done the same to the real thing overnight! I'm just setting off for my trip on the branch. I figured that, compare to the turns I have this week, this is a lie-in!

Two things - (1) @ Bengley - fabulous - if only ..... (2) Shuttle cancelled 11.10 to 12.55 yesterday - no Train Operator. Wonder if it was a genuine absence or someone who didn't know their way into the 'bay' at Chalfont after all this time
