Which underground train car uses the chopper/regenerative braking andwhich ones uses the rehostatic/camshaft braking control?

If I have got it right (I just know I haven't and someone's gonna make sure I know it ;D ;D) 'Chopper' and 'Camshaft' relate to motors - only 'Regenerative' and 'Rheostatic' apply to braking. Regenerative brakes are on the 90's series stocks, with all other stocks having Rheostatic brakes. In both cases, these form of brakes only work within certain speed ranges (and only on motored axles!) - at other times (and on non motored axles), it's a straight brake block on wheel job. **sit's back and waits to be shot down big time ;D** EDIT: BTW, this applies when using EP, westcode (electrical) etc - if using Westinghouse (pure air only) etc, then again it's brake block on wheel, but on all axles.

Actually, you are correct except that all passenger stocks, except the A Stock, use the motors for braking. So camshaft, chopper, GTO or IGBT will all provide dynamic braking. All these trains have the ability to divert the current generated in braking to an on-board resistor, even those with regenerative capability. This is because the line will not always accept the regenerated current. As to which stocks have what:- A: Single camshaft (No rheo) EP/Whse C, 67, 72: Rheo (dual camshaft) + EP/Whse D, 73: Rheo (single camshaft) + Westcode 92: GTO DC drive with regen + ep 95: IGBT AC drive with regen + ep 96: GTO AC drive with regen + ep

SO was it CO/CP stock that had the first regenerative brakes?

SO was it CO/CP stock that had the first regenerative brakes? No, it was (original) O and P stock which had it (the metadyne machine). The 'C' stands for 'converted' which was replacement of the metadyne by conventional camshaft (and braking).
