During the construction of the lifts at Earls Court I noticed that the old food seller on the westbound island disappeared, to be replaced with a food seller on the island at Gloucester Road.
Similarly I've noticed that a number of Zone 1 stations have newsagents and food sellers on both sides of the barriers. What sort of rules are there for 'letting in' food sellers on TfL premises?

Assuming you meant the commercial basis, TOK, I imagine potential interests are invited to rent the concession - 'pitch for the patch'.

Russ I see - is that all there is to it? For some reason I expected it to be more complicated than that...

No, but TfL do seem to "make a meal"out of most things so I can see why he thought that!!
They seem to be popping up all over the network now.

The majority of food retailers on the tube are owned by about 2 families. So I'm led to believe, who sub-lease many times. Only the empty and hence unprofitable sites are open to the 'non-family'.

Landlord & Tenant Act 1954 Part II gives security of tenure to commerical tenants.
A lot of the food sites are poor. I wonder if TfL property might seek to go for World Class food retailing?

I wonder if TfL property might seek to go for World Class food retailing? The Bucharest metro has a McDonald's within fare control. However whether both McDonald's or the Bucharest metro are world class is debatable!
