I would have put this in the first thread with this title as it is related, but it has been locked.
Do LU staff, on council housing lists count as 'Key' workers (as trains are a public service, run in operation with the Mayor of London), or as 'Civil Servant'? Somebody asked me this question last night and it got me thinking.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But apparently not.

Oh well worth a try I suppose. I would have imagined that would be the case, working for the public in London.

So I understand, this Key Worker Housing only covers those working in the NHS, Police force and Teachers. Bit of a swizz if you ask me. No wonder we have staff commuting in from Milton Keynes every day, purely because London is too expensive. You'd be very VERY lucky to find an decent sized apartment for less than £400k in the Docklands.

Trouble is that railway workers aren't as popular as teachers or nurses.

Trouble is that railway workers aren't as popular as teachers or nurses. You have no idea how unpopular teachers can be.......

Part of the bid for the 2006 pay award is for LU staff (whether TfL/Infracos will submit something similar) to be included in London Key Worker Housing. Lets Hope So... I might move back up town.
