A query has been raised on Wikipedia about which borough Old Street tube station is in. An initial response says that some exists are in Islington and some in Hackney.
Which borough is the actual station in (i.e. ticket hall and platforms)? If they too cross the boundary, which borough is the majority of the staiton in? If the station has a postal address, which borough does that put it in (and what does this depend on?)

I thought it was Hackney, but Wikipedia says Islington. Just tap in Old St, and then click on the station.

I thought it was Hackney, but Wikipedia says Islington This is exactly the reason why the question has been asked! The person asking the question is attempting to verify which is correct (and it isn't necessarily Wikipedia).

[/quote Just looked on Wikipedia which puts it in the LB of Islington. Also on an OS Map it shows most of the roundabout at Old Street being in Islington with only the north-east part in Hackney.

Former Postal addresses.
The original London Postal District covered all the County of London as well as certain adjoining areas (ie. Willesden, in Middlesex - NW 10) and only required 'London, EC 4' etc. to be shown in the address.

I am sure at the present time, Shoreditch, is in the borough of Hackney.

I am sure at the present time, Shoreditch, is in the borough of Hackney. I think there are as many opinions as to where Shoreditch is as there are Londoners. My map ('Collins' London Street Map) shows Shoreditch to be part Tower Hamlets, part Hackney. Old Street roundabout three quarters Islington and one quarter Hackney by the way. Estate Agents would easily call Dalston Shoreditch.
