Hi all Looking at the C Stock withdrawal board it mentions that unit 6513 had trial air conditioning on board after refurbishment. Just wondering does this unit still have this air conditioning or has it been removed? Also were the air conditioning units evident within the appearance of this unit? I take it that it was not a successful trial considering that it was not rolled out across the rest of the fleet? Thanks kabsonline

It was certainly removed before 1996. Plans to (1) fit a whole C Stock train and (2) then the whole fleet, didn't happen.

Would it be similar to how Dstock 7108 had a trial forced air system as seen here, and nowadays has plates welded over the grooves photo here Copyright All rights reserved by bowroaduk (flickr) for all linked photos

Blimey, doesn't D stock look soooo much better in all-over silver!

Thanks kabsonline Would it be similar to how Dstock 7108 had a trial forced air system as seen hereThere was no visible difference to this car, as all the required ducting for air-con was fitted to all C Stock that were refurbished, the units were simply not fitted into the spaces provided. It was full air-con, not forced-air. The trial of course led to it's adoption on S Stock
