This weekend the District line is closed between Whitechapel and West Ham, and Dagenham East and Upminster. Does anyone know how this will impact the frequencies to Wimbledon please?

For those of us going to the All England Club, given the reduced service, is South Wimbledon likely to be easier? (Don't know Wimbledon area at all I'm afraid!)

There is no reduction in frequency to Wimbledon, that's still a train every 5mins!

Obviously it depends where you are coming from, but Google reckons it's a 45 minute walk from South Wimbledon station to the All England Club. TfL reckon 17 minutes on a bus to the Wimbledon High Street then a 19 minute walk to the entrance. The recommended route from Embankment is a District Line train to Southfields then a 24-minute walk (or optionally short bus ride and 12 minute walk).

As well as the scheduled bus services from Southfields in the direction of the tennis (493 goes right past the tennis and 39 pretty close) there are special bus services shuttling between Southfields station and the courts and an extended taxi rank with cab sharing, marshals etc.

Haven't been in London for about 3 years, has the reversing point mooted for West Ham now been commissioned? It's been operational for about two years, will be used this weekend as there is no District Line between West Ham and Whitechapel due to track replacement work. Also no service between Dagenham East and Upminster due to drainage work No service on Hamersmith & City Line between Moorgate and Barking. This is for Saturday & Sunday 6/7 July 2013.

Does this mean Whitechapel is no longer used as a reversing point?

Does this mean Whitechapel is no longer used as a reversing point? There are no scheduled reversers at Whitechapel or West Ham, although West Ham siding is used to run passenger H&C trains through each day. Whitechapel can be used to reverse trains in each direction from the platform and additionally east-west beyond the station.

If all trains now run Hammersmith-Barking must mean a bigger peak service requirement than was the case before the upgrade began.
