My photos from the day are here: www.flickr.com/photos/londonstuff/sets/72157645380367606/but much better are Kateyay's, which are far more worthy of a visit... www.flickr.com/photos/kateeh/sets/72157645474989243/A huge thank you to all the operating officials who worked today, many of whom I got to speak to, old and new, who were all so friendly. Unfortunately I ended up in the rowdy car that seemed to be more like a crèche in some ways (no Antharro I'm not talking about you or Mrs Antharro ) Not all the people on these rail tours are like that and I'm glad we seem to have a good crowd on the Forum.
A really super, special day.

That's a lovely shot of Earl's Court. Also, Kensington, Addison Road on the destination blind was a nice touch.

Hi guys, thought I'd post in. I didn't get to ride it due to cost, but the thrill of chasing it with other made up for that. This was my first proper train hunt/spot, so I'm quite chuffed. Yeah, some bits were rowdy like at Hammersmith, but the atmosphere was good. I'm going to miss these workhorses.

Did the train get diverted after it left Whitechapel? I went to Gloucester Road and Paddington (Hammersmith and City Line platforms) at the times it was meant to arrive, only it didn't. No but we were running early.

No but we were running early. Very early! I took the District to South Kensington after seeing the tour leave Barking and West Ham, and it was only a couple of minutes before the tour arrived; I then went to Great Portland Street and it was even earlier! I'd barely made it over the footbridge from the eastbound line, but thankfully it stopped for a few minutes. The amusing thing was that the displays were showing a "Not in service" train at least 3 behind the tour. p.s. Who was that who leapt out of the cab at Great Portland Street to get a photo?

...one car did seem rather crèche like as it passed me at Latimer Road. That might've been coach C - the one me and wifey were in. There were a few kidz in it. And can we pass on our thanks to all those involved in organising and running the tour?

I was fortunate enough to have been on the tour yesterday (I wouldn't have missed it for the world!) and, despite the sad circumstances, I thoroughly enjoyed myself!
After the disappointing affair of the last day in passenger service, TfL really pulled up their proverbial socks, and with the good natured staff, the special posters in the cars and most of all, the fantastic blinds that were produced, gave these trains the send off they really deserved. Rotherham via Northwood was a nice touch, I'd just like to hope it will still be displaying that blind at the gates of Booth's when that unfortunate moment happens.
My thanks go out to all the organisers, to TfL, to the Stewards and to everyone else who made the day what it was.
Farewell C stock! I'll never forget you!

The "abuse" of the PIS caused amusement during the day, too :-)

Excellent pictures and videos from everyone once again - I was only able to attend in spirit this time but it certainly looks as if the stock received a well-deserved final hurrah - I'm yellow, pink and green with envy! (I've just noticed that Geoff's 'A&C to S' DVD is now available to purchase from the Museum - I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned already - I may need to invest in a copy!)Now to find that telephone number for Booth's...

Can I just thank everyone who came along and supported the event. It was a fitting send off for 'C' Stock and I for one am gutted to see the work horse of the SSR bow out. I hope you enjoyed the day and hope you all felt it was worthwhile. My colleagues put a huge amount of effort into making the day as successful as possible, from the blinds to the posters to the PA banter! I just turned up on the day as one of the Operating Officials and put some Det's down at the end! Thanks again everyone.

Haha, was certainly unexpected, so points there. As for me, I now have the task of figuring out where to put these posters I've got now. Fun fun!

My father, who was the guard on the very first 'C' stock diagram in passenger service back in 1970, was welcomed by prjb and the team at Moorgate to join the tour. I've written to prjb separately but wanted to make my thanks public to him and the tour team on here. Dad had a fantastic time, received VIP treatment and made at every turn to feel a part of the day. I really am very grateful to prjb and all concerned for making an old railwayman feel part of the family again. Thank you all so very much.

The person I was with and I spent a lot of the day talking to him about his memories and we both enjoyed talking to him greatly.

I owe him my lifelong interest in the Underground and railways in general. You can see how he brought it all to life so vividly. The irony is that he'd take traction engines and vintage tractors over trains any day of the week! THC
