Many years ago as a child visiting London, I would use my dictating machine to record the audio sounds of the C69/C77s. Following the farewell tours, I managed to dig out the old cassettes and they're now on YouTube for all to listen to.

Good memories! The pre-refurb motors sounded great! The Rheo brake could certainly scream. You could also hear the difference between a '69 and '77 by the sound of the door closing valve.

why did the unrefurbished C stock sound louder and more like it was doing a spin-cycle
