Hi, During my most recent visit to London we decided to go to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and what a woderful sight it is. On my way out I noticed the DLR tracks under the walkway toward westfield, (next to the aquatic centre) and I noticed above ground these signs: The DLR Escape Route sign that is. I was just wondering what they are for and what DLR Escape Route means. On my journey back from Stratford international I saw the same stretch of track as earlier and got confused. Thanks, //Aidan

Very simple probably, an escape route for train evacuation in the long tunel between Stratford and Stratford International if it's ever needed!

Thanks sawb.
That makes sense with the lights on in the tunnel.

Yep, that's exactly it. Those of us on the emergency exercise before the line opened got to use the stairs up to that level. We didn't go any further than just the top of the stairs as they needed to get us all back on the train again later, but in a real emergency this would be where any needed ambulances etc would go to. I imagine that the majority of the uninjured would dissipate into the shopping centre crowds.
I'll hunt out the photos I took and get them online somewhere.
