Every 30 minutes from Paddington to Heathrow? Is that frequency going to increase once full operation starts? Final frequency stands at 4tph (every 15mins) to T4 and 2tph (half hourly) to T5. T5 services will rub shoulders with Heathrow EXP (4tph) although how long the express service holds out is open to interpretation.

Yes, it will eventually go up to 4tph, but to start with it will just be the existing Heathrow Connect service operating under a new name and maybe new stickers. Once they've sorted the signalling issues in the Heathrow Tunnels, they will go over to Cl. 345 operation and the two Hayes & Harlington stoppers will be extended through to Heathrow.

There was a time when in-car diagrams on lines where trains couldn't be turned (District Main line, for example) were opposite ways round on opposite sides of the car (so Upminster was on the left on the south side of the car). Always looked odd.
I notice the diagram makes no attempt to indicate the service pattern (no direct trains from Hanwell to either Acton or Heathrow)

A fundamental mistake as it then says at the same time past each hour until...The department concerned were made aware of this earlier today I'm told, as you can imagine a few individuals were definitely not impressed...

This meant that the Richmond and Wimbledon branches were shown to the right, not the left, of the Ealing branch

345 CBTC testing in the Central Operating Section (COS) continues. So far only between Abbey Wood and Canary Wharf but trains have been running in AM mode (auto mode) and at full line speed in most of this area, hopefully throughout the area by the end of this weekend. Train 32 is now in use alongside Train 21.
Testing is due to be extended up towards Paddington in the not too distant future.

What is actually limiting the early introduction of the line to run direct from the west to the east once December comes around (eg running shenfield to heathrow/H&H)? Is it an interface between the signalling in the west and core sections of the route?

Abbey Wood to Paddington is self contained without interface with existing routes. This ensures that the systems all work in the core section in public service.

Abbey Wood to Paddington is self contained without interface with existing routes. This ensures that the systems all work in the core section in public service. The timetable is self contained but the trains have to use the east and west transitions to get from stabling locations into the Central Operating Section. So the signalling interfaces will be there. As you say it is about building up the service step by step.

Yes to new stickers on the trains... at present though photographic proof is still in my camera. In short, earlier this afternoon I took advantage of visiting Heathrow to say farewell to a friend before catching a flight and for my journey home I travelled on the HeC (Heathrow Connect) service. I saw that at least one HeC train has been rebranded with TFL Rail Roundels replacing the Heathrow Connect branding (with the First Group branding still intact). However I saw at least two more trains which retained HeC branding. For the record, my ticket from Heathrow to Ealing Broadway cost £8. Oyster will not be accepted on this service between the airport and Hayes & Harlington station until TfL take over on Sunday. I am not sure of the fares after then but suspect that they will not be much cheaper - if at all. But it was nice having a paper ticket as I was able to alight at stations and then board subsequent trains without worrying about journey duration limits. At Ealing Bdwy I used a free-standing card reader before boarding a Central Line train home. This easy interchange explains why my paper ticket ended here. Simon

I wouldn't think so. They are only there until they can get ETCS working in the Heathrow tunnels properly, at which point the service can go over to 345s.

It is a shame TFL Rail have not tweaked the vinyl design to incorporate a broad black vertical stripe to cover over the black stain marks usually visible on 360s below the Pantograph compartment.
The staining is clearly visible in the video on those TFL rebranded 360s and on the Heathrow Connect variants so I am guessing the stain is unavoidable due to some sort of lubricant needed by the pantograph mechanism - as those marks do not appear on the rest of the train.
As Mr Honda worked out very early on with their motorbike designs, just paint areas matt black if its likely to get grubby in routine use, then it still looks presentable even if it really is covered in road dirt and chain grease.

It is pantograph related, you can see that the black stripe emanates from a drain hole for the pantograph well, but I would suspect that the black grubbiness is mainly carbon dust off of the pantograph head which had been carried there by rainwater draining away. Modifying the vinyls to cover it over would be a waste of money though, they're only changing the logos - not the livery. spsmiler has got a video showing a rebranded 360. I'm curious to know why they rebranded everything but still left a first group logo at the front... How many 360s are they keeping? Until tomorrow, they are still first group operated, I would expect the flying F's to disappear once TfL actually start operating them. As I understand it, they are taking all 5 of the 360s, as they are also taking over operation of the inter terminal shuttle operation, which uses one unit, as well as the units needed to operate the mainline connect service.

I can't see why TfL would not retain the existing 360s - they only ever ran Heathrow to Paddington. The Hayes shuttles are run with GWR Class 387s which will now effectively become spare or be used to strengthen other services that use them. I think the 360s are not the most reliable of trains so TfL would be rash to restrict the fleet size unnecessarily at this time. No one wants a repeat of what happened with the West Anglia services although there is also the challenge of getting and keeping the 345s reliable! The far bigger challenge in my view is what on earth happens if there is a major incident on the GWML. Past practice has been to dump the Connect service and reduce other suburban services. GWR were able to make that trade off but TfL / MTR Crossrail will have their own stance on their services keeping running in the event of disruption. Going to be very interesting to see how things pan out on the western service. There isn't the luxury of an almost dedicated set of tracks as there is east of Stratford on the Shenfield route. Let's hope no shiny new class 345s disgrace themselves on the new western services.

I'm surprised, could have sworn when I visited Heathrow last that some of the 360's had purple/indigo doors.
Now that fares have been announced, and they are different to LUL lines, can we please get rid of zones from the tube maps? Theyre usefulness was deceptive at best, but is now potentially misleading.
