Line issues 19/9/17 pm

Whilst travelling on the District from Cannon Street to Ealing Broadway late yesterday, there was a message that we would not stop at Victoria due to overcrowding due to an issue on the Victoria line. Nothing mentioned on here today. Anyone know what happened?

TFL site was advertising severe delays due to a defective train.

Defective train at Highbury southbound around 17.00, train stuck in Restrictive Manual (9mph) until Victoria sidings, arrived 17.55.
District trains non-stopped Victoria 17.15 until 18.00.

I'm surprised reversing it into the siding at King's Cross wouldn't have been quicker?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to go into the siding from the southbound road, the only access to the siding is from the northbound road. Similarly, the only direction it's possible to leave the siding in is southbound. Otherwise, you're right, it'd be a hell of a thing to overlook

Shame. It seems like allowing that move would be a relatively cheap way of giving the line another much-needed (on occasions like this) cripple siding.

Relatively, compared to excavating a new tunnel that is! I don't propose it would be pocket change.

I've done Kings Cross southbound to the siding, however it's not a signalled move.
As I understand the defective train only had a issue on the south end, so it could have been reversed south to north at Warren Street and gone back north in full auto rather than crawling to Victoria.

WhIch begs the question - why was that option not taken?
In terms of entering Kings Cross siding from the southbound platform, would that require securing points?

First question: I couldn't possibly comment on how the Vic line management work, (or not as the case maybe!)
Second question: Yes two sets of points secured
