Just had one of our local newsletters through the door today. It says that Blackhorse Road is getting a "mini refresh" with some internal redecoration, new fixed barrier (glass not metal) in the ticket hall and some new flooring materials. The rear (car park) exit that goes out to Ferry Lane is temporarily closed as a result (presumably being used a temporary store). No word on when the lifts to the Overground platforms will be able to talk to LU's station systems thus allowing them to be brought into service.

Yes - the minor refresh is I understand part of a deal with LB Waltham Forest as part of local redevelopment. I was only thinking that what with the decorative tiles at platform level, the Black Horse sculpture and the Giles Round/AoU’s tiles in the ticket hall Blackhorse Road does pretty well ‘artwise’ for a single station!

The refurb was in a council newsletter about the Blackhorse Rd which was "bigging up" the whole redevelopment of the area so I assumed something had been concocted by the Council for the refurb to go ahead. Not sure I really agree with the mess the council are inflicting on the area but there's nothing ordinary people can do about it.

Anything involving large sums of money tends to find a way to happen, regardless of rosette colour
