I would assume that if anyone owns the copyright to station announcements it is the transport provider / station operator / Network Rail, etc.
However, somehow YouTube have (today) sent me the following message.
This is the film they are talking about.
This is actually the second claim on this message as a few days ago the same company lodged a claim against me for a much longer film which includes the same sequence filmed on the sharply curved platform at Embankment station.
I can anticipate a third such claim as I also filmed this announcement (in the early 1990's) at Bank station.
I am disputing this claim and will let you know the outcome.
If the claim against me is upheld I think I will find myself in the highly unusual situation of a trainspotter contacting TfL because he is being accused of copyright theft of a station announcement that was made whilst a train was calling there.

edit to add: some years ago I received a similar copyright notice on a film that comprised silent super 8 footage! This shows just how crazy things can be, sometimes.

Most of the YouTube copyright claims and takedown requests are entirely automated and do not pass the eyes (let alone brain) of a human. Search for terms such as "copywrong" and "copyright trolling" for more.

Search for terms such as "copywrong" and "copyright trolling" for more. I agree, and we must remember that there is a serious problem with unauthorised use of music written and / or recorded by other people.
My thought on this matter turns to the possibility that someone stripped out the audio from my footage and placed it on Tunecore, and claimed the copyright. This would indeed make the sound they have an exact match with my footage.
I don't mind if someone strips out sound for their own use, but the situation I now find myself in is something else.

Chris has got it correct. It will be an automated claim and it will be wrong. Don't worry about it. You'll get it all sorted by YT in a few days.

Just to keep everyone updated, so far the dispute is in progress. Apparently TuneCore must respond within 30 days from when I disputed the copyright claim.
