… Capacity Optimisation is a positive euphemism for reintroducing the Woodford-Hainault shuttle with 4-car trains. What is the point of a Woodford-Hainault shuttle if it requires an extra train available for service? Surely the extra train could have gone to CLIP project?

Exactly what I was thinking. I was specifically talking about when the first refurbished train would enter service, which i expected to be this year, given that DDA 2020 is now in effect

At full production, I believe it is a train per 30 days. Before then, staff need to be trained, job processes need to be created and trailed, part/stock delivery needs to be perfected etc. For example, the first battery loco refurb was 2 years from start to handed back to depot if I remember correctly.

Any adaptation for the disabled must be welcome, but is the best they can come up with?

I'm not sure what else you are looking for from what is clearly labelled as a prototype and which has had no cosmetic work done on it?

Keep in mind as well that any existing equipment ideally needs to stay where it is/as near as possible to its original position. You then need to make sure you still have access to maintain equipment.

If they're not, all TFL will get is moans from able-bodied passengers that they have reduced the already meagre seating of the 92s...

Not to mention that this particular space will be useless for standing passengers (unless they are children).

Not just children (although there are plenty of children young people who travel on these trains). There have been loads of times I've been in the equivalent of this position by the doors and there are plenty of adults my height and shorter.

Tube trains are a lot more spacious when you're 5'5" on a good day!

I believe that similar to the upcoming '72 Stock, these will have 4 perch/'bum rests' at the side. The new cabinets are metal.

Given a choice I'd rather have Northern line style tip-up seats to Jubilee line style bum rests!

in terms of standing space, perch seats are significantly better than tip-up seats as the latter get sat on when the standing space is not required but do not get relinquished when that space is required for standees.

On the Jubilee line trains the perches are not really long enough for 2 people. For the Central line upgrade it will depend whether there equipment or access required behind the panels.

Perch seats are nothing new. I can remember when the 38s on the Northern Line was my transport to and from work, there was one car that was modified with perch seats either side of the double doors. There is a photo on the LT musuem web page if anybodys interested.

Wrong angle and too shallow for most bums, so occupant has to brace her/his legs!

The Jubilee line bum rests are really poor, completely fail as perches. Though they do fit two people. The best are those on the Overground trains - proper comfortable perches, though those aren't really wide enough for two.

How long has it been since the pair were sent off and whats the current status. Since at least March 2019. The May edition of LURS states, "One train has the prototype traction package fitted, another with the internal layout changes and RVAR mods and another ready to be worked on."

All work on the 92TS has been halted on the TFL side of things due to this Covid-19.

Has tye refurbishment resumed or is the work still on hold? Still on hold on the LU side, have heard a few dates flying around for resuming, but sounds like in the new year at the earliest (bar a few minor bits here and there)
