hello
can anyone tell me when this suspension was lifted?
I only ask as I got on a train at Vauxhall, took the announcers advice to try overground at Pimlico, and finally got to Finsbury Park by Piccadilly to see a vic line train swan in on the other platform at about 8.10
Pimlico's a bit of a transport blackhole when the Vic is down isn't it?
Next time, I'm not leaving the station unless the train is on fire or eaten by aliens...

Next time, I'm not leaving the station unless the train is on fire or eaten by aliens... Between 19:02 and 19:30 the line was advertised at Part Suspended Kings X to Walthamstow due to a faulty train. Service resumed at 19:35 with Severe Delays on the entire line not getting back to normality till 21:30. As is typically the case with the Victoria line during disruption, 6-8 trains typically get taken out of service as a preventative measure to prevent blocking back between stations.

hmmmm… I reckon I'd still have been better sitting it out at Pimlico...
Thank you for the helpful response.
It doesn't half make you realise how nifty the line is when you see what happens if it falls over...

Isn't it the case that there are more trains on the line than platform faces during the peak periods?
Also, Pimlico is the only station on the line which isn't an interchange; if you're gonna bail anywhere - don't bail at Pimlico!

You can bail at Pimlico to get buses though, it’s reasonably well connected for that :-)

well, there are busses in Pimlico, but not at Pimlico station. I eventually found an 88 bus stop, down a side street... Which took me to Picadilly circus, but quick it was not...

They are near Pimlico station, but the problem with Pimlico station is that it doesn't really have an above-ground location that could have a clump of bus-stops near it. Those bus stops are certainly the nearest and intended to serve Pimlico station, but like a lot of bus infrastructure, is only easy if you know about it. Also those two busses are not very good as strategic services: 360 goes south or up to Victoria C10 goes east or to Victoria. Victoria is only useful for the district/central line and is the third circle of hell when any of the tube lines serving it hiccup.

Pimlico station is served by buses 360 (every 9mins) and C10 (every 12min). Also route 24 stops in Belgrave road - very close - 1m to the west, and a few busses stop in Vauxhall bridge road, a couple of minutes walk to the west. I start my daily commute from Pimlico, and as mentioned above isn't the easiest station to reroute from. If the Vic is down in the morning, my favoured alternative is to take the 20m fast walk to Westminster and start my journey from there. I can probably walk there faster than the 24 can arrive and navigate itself around the Victoria one way system. Victoria is closer than Westminster (7 mins fast walk) but as mentioned above of limited use. [edit: corrected east to west above. (I'd put my red and green socks on the wrong feet this morning)]

Also route 24 stops in Belgrave road - very close - 1m to the west I assume that 1 minute, rather than metre or mile, is intended, but is it really that close?

Also route 24 stops in Belgrave road - very close - 1m to the west I assume that 1 minute, rather than metre or mile, is intended, but is it really that close? Yes - 1 minute walk (I suppose I should qualify that by saying there is at leas one busy and one lesser road to cross depending on exit, so that might add a slight delay, and that I walk fairly briskly). Route 24 turns from Lupus street (off to the west) and Belgrave road (off to the north), and the stop is in Belgrave road close to the junction. Use google street-view to look at it. I've been trying to avoid saying it's a useful route (as hast depends where you're trying to get to!), but it does take in Westminster, Charing cross road and Tottenham Ct rd, so it can link to many useful travel hubs. That said, as it runs over very busy road, I still think it's probably faster to walk to Westminster if you can keep up a fairly brisk walking pace. Whether to 'bail out', 'reroute' or 'sit (or more likely stand) it out' is a diffucult decision. I like to think that given enough information I can make a sensible decision, but even if the train was crawling along station by station, thinking ahead to the effects that it might be having to potential interchange stations I'd want to use might lead me to make a wider diversion than might at first be suggested. I also note that claiming a service delay when you are unable to complete your journey (or unable to start a regular journey as your local station is closed) does not appear to be possible, and often bus drivers don't know about tickets valid, so you can end up not getting a refund AND actually paying ti divert. So that leaves the really important question of have there been any reports of trains actually being eaten by aliens??

what else did you think "problems with the track" are? (the problem being it's been eaten by the Ravenous Bug-Blatter Beast of Traal...)
The irony is that at one point in my career, I worked at Millbank Tower but got off the train at Vauxhall and walked, thus avoiding the tube in general and aliens in particular...
What flummoxed me on that particular day was that I got on at VXH, and they said "we are going to go station to station", and then the information changed at Pimlico. If there'd been tubes going the other way, I'd have gone back and diverted onto the northern at Stockwell.
