Victoria Line shut this morning (11th Nov), but ticket acceptance only arranged on South Western, SouthEastern, Great Northern and Overground. Why not Southern?

Where would you like to travel on Southern Rail to?
They don’t offer any journey opportunities that would normally be done on the Victoria line.

Balham via Stockwell?
Clapham Junction for those usually changing at Vauxhall?

The former can be reached directly via the Northern line and the latter via SWR.

Ticket acceptance works both ways. There’s nothing to suggest that TfL didn’t ask - it’s up to Southern (specifically GTR) to grant or not grant. It may be that they know they don’t have the spare capacity to accept Victoria line passengers without inconveniencing their own.
The fact that other GTR brands granted acceptance suggests that TfL probably did ask.

Specifically for flows from Balham southwards. I've noticed with GTR with buses too - they'll have acceptance in certain routes in the Croydon area but not others. Surely the simple thing to do would be to arrange acceptance on all operators and routes in affected areas?

See above. It’s not always a good idea and can cause more issues than it solves.

Surely the vast majority are using Oyster, contactless, or paper travelcards which are all valid on any NR TOC anyway. The number of people who actually need ticket acceptance must be tiny.

Not if you're at Victoria. The District & Circle lines were running fine. But Southern is much more direct.

It sure is, but this acceptance also includes Staff passes, Freedom Passes (and 60+) is included in this (bear in mind the time of the incident happened when most Freedom passes are not valid on N.R), N.R Cross- London transfer and N.R tickets to U Zones.

The District & Circle lines were running fine. The Circle & District lines did not stop at Victoria during Monday morning’s incident - the whole of Victoria LU station was closed.

Surely the simple thing to do would be to arrange acceptance on all operators and routes in affected areas? When I was at control (for Southern) I encouraged the trend of putting bus route detail on the actual ticket acceptance message. Not being a Londoner I didn't have (and still don't have) that good a knowledge of TfLs complex routes so I only listed the ones that I could see by the maps may be of use to intending passengers. I always started my wording something like 'Rail tickets are being accepted on TfL buses in the area including' which made it clear it wasn't just those shown, while still giving some idea to those like me who had no idea otherwise I think you will find that ticket acceptance especially on buses is granted on anything that runs through the affected area (as long as the message gets through to the driver of course)

...(as long as the message gets through to the driver of course) Which can be interesting. One very sensible diversion for me (when the vic south of Victoris is u/s), is route 24 from Westminster (If I bale out of the tube stem there).I've tried it a few times and each time got a blank look form the driver.... Anyway, when IS the procedure for ticket acceptance if the driver grants it? Does he print you off a ticket or validate your card or something? (Never having successfully claimed it, I'm yet to find out)

One very sensible diversion for me (when the vic south of Victoris is u/s), is route 24 from Westminster (If I bale out of the tube stem there).I've tried it a few times and each time got a blank look form the driver.... Bus drivers are usually informed via a pan London voice message over their radio from the centralised bus control room. Depending on when the message is broadcast and how long & complicated it is versus driving the vehicle.......they might be forgiven for missing part or all of the message. Also, bus drivers aren’t told which routes ticket acceptance applies to - they’ll simply be told to accept tickets via any reasonable route between X, Y and Z. If they aren’t familiar with the rail route options, they may not be aware that they are part of said acceptance. Anyway, when IS the procedure for ticket acceptance if the driver grants it? Does he print you off a ticket or validate your card or something? (Never having successfully claimed it, I'm yet to find out) You won’t be issued anything as you are already travelling with a valid ticket. **also, I’m sure there was no offence intended but please note that not all bus drivers are male these days**
