The already constrained Bakerloo line ticket hall at Paddington is for a time going to get even more restricted to enable works to enlarge the space from next week.
Changes during the works include: Bakerloo trains non-stopping on 22 & 23 Feb Permanent closure of the Praed Street entrance down to the Bakerloo ticket hall which I'm told dates all the way back to 1913 Restricted access via the suburban platforms entrance/exit
All this and more till Summer 2020 when the worksite boradens.

They are demolishing the small oxblood red tiled cuboid structure that gives access to the Bakerloo line ticket hall from Praed Street. so what will be on there aftrr demlishing? like new retial or housing? I wouldn't have thought there was enough room for retail or housing as the site is about 10ft by 30ft sandwiched between the ramp down to Paddington Mainline and London Street.

This entrance will be replaced by a more accessible one under the Paddington Square development which will take the place of the old red brick Post Office building seen in the photo above. London Road and the Paddington Ramp will be merged and fully pedestrianised leaving no trace of the original entrance footprint.

With both the Praed St and Suburban platform exists gone, it should allow for the opening up of this space. UPDATE: I’ll pull up the PDF when I get back to a computer.

rsdworker , I've attached a screenshot of the plans for the ticket hall. This was from a document titled 'PROPOSED B1 TICKET HALL LEVEL PLAN' from this page. Just for orientation purposes, the rectangle (lower left side) is the former Praed St subway. Zoomed in version of the same diagram showing the area between the existing ticket hall and the new space beneath Paddington Sqaure.

so why lifts lead to bakerloo ticket hall but not accessible to bakerloo line platforms unless there is other lift from ticket hall to platforms The 2nd photo I attached shows a new pair of lifts behind the gateline in the payed section of the enlarged ticket hall. These lift shafts do not appear in the plans for the mezzanine levels above therefore I would conclude that the only way these shafts are going is down to the Bakerloo line platforms since they are too far west to hit the Crossrail link.

Did Paddington Bakerloo line have lifts when the line first opened ? Following on from the success at Earl's Court, it opened with escalators from the beginning, the first on the line to be built as such.

I think I read somewhere that the Bakerloo Line platforms will have lifts from the Crossrail platforms and the Crossrail platforms will have lifts to the ticket hall. The will be a step-free link from the Bakerloo line platforms to the Crossrail station. I can't remember what level of the Crossrail station but given that all levels will be accessible step-free from the street and from the mainline station, there will therefore be a step-free route from the Bakerloo line to the mainline station this way, albeit a circuitous one. That is entirely unrelated to this development which is on the north-east side of the mainline station, Crossrail is on the south-west side. See this 2016 article from ianvisits

The Bakerloo line link to Crossrail will be from the opposite end of the lower concourse to the existing escalators.

edit the two lifts go all way down to B2 however one lift can go up from ticket hall to concourse level for emergencies
i havent seen plans for crossrail connections

Main section highlighted in red is the link itself, the red tunnel beneath the new escalator shaft is the dedicated passageway to the lift which taps into a portal on the Southbound platform, the red cylinder on the lower left side adjoining the Northbound platform is the new relay room which used to take up the space where the new escalators for the link now occupy. The escalators/lifts from Paddington Sq will tap in close to where the new relay room is.
