Given the ongoing virus issues - I am surprised to see the long list of planned closures (mostly weekends) shown in the email which arrived today from TFL.
Of particular note is - most Sub Surface lines(SSL) will be affected by full or part line closures on 30 and 31 May? I thought they had postponed the next SMA roll-out - so I can only assume track at a critical SSL junction is getting reworked, or did TFL HQ not get the memo that the SMA work had been deferred?
More worrying is long line of weekend closures of GOBLIN starting on weekend of 22/23 August running right through to 24/25 October.
Have passengers on this line not suffered enough? What work are they endeavouring to do now which they could not have done when the line was shut for months to allow electrification works? My only thought is that serious freight derailment which happened recently has resulted in Network Rail realising they cannot defer track replacement any longer.
