Just re-visited the excellent BBC adaptation of 'Murder Must Advertise', with Ian Carmichael as the amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey.
The victim goes under a train at South Kensington, and at the time I was curious to know what was used in the filming. Last of the electric-converted bogie stock, I guessed.
The DVD age, with its clear still-frame ability, has completely ruined THAT notion!
Anybody got any ideas? It has a Dreadnought look about it...

Love the iconic gear sound.
I remember a Dreadnought in that muddy brown colour, awaiting restoration. Wasn't it a LPTB livery at one time?

Pretty sure that scene is at Horsted Keynes, and that the train is a slightly dressed-up LBSCR Directors' Saloon.

Yes, that is Horsted Keynes.Very cleverly shot to make it look as if they were going down to a platform that is really in the open air. The reproduction South Kensington signs are very good, probably much better than would be done today. I am also sure the car involved is No 60, LBSCR Directors Saloon, which is actually a 12-wheel vehicle.

Considering that the appropriate stock was not available I think that it is a very creditable attempt to recreate the location.
