I’d have thought they’d send a prepper from Cockfosters rather than Northfields as it’s only a couple of stops up the line.

I’d have thought they’d send a prepper from Cockfosters rather than Northfields as it’s only a couple of stops up the line. Station to station, the travel time from Northfields to South Harrow is about 30 minutes (during the day), Cockfosters to South Harrow is about 80 minutes. Driving, Google suggests Cockfosters Depot to South Harrow Christian Fellowship (approximately the access point) would take about 50 minutes, Northfields Depot to the same point it suggests 25-30 minutes.

Was just refering to way Arnos does it not where the prepper comes from which is Oakwood depot. Although reading it back it does sound like I was saying they come from Northfield's. Also looks like Chris thought you was refering to South Harrow I assume you was on about Arnos

About 12 years ago we used to complete some duties in Northfields depot then drive to South Harrow to prep the six trains there then return to Northfields for the rest of the shift. Occasionally we would also travel to Cockfosters by car to carry out scheduled examinations on trains that for whatever reason had stabled at Cockfosters rather than Northfields. Can't remember now what happened if the South Harrow man and the Cockfosters bound examiners both needed the depot vehicle but somewhere in the grey matter I think there was also a van available.

The 20mph speed restriction and cameras on most roads in the borough of Ealing would slow those road transfers a few minutes these days.

Back in the early 90s when I was at Golders Green we had a depot car,a brand new Vauxhall,we had to go to Edgware as one of the staff had turned up drunk. We offered to take him home as he lived in Islington,we ran out of petrol on the Cally Rd even though the gauge said full.
