I heard of a power failure at the control centre for Picc and District at Earls Court, Sunday night, which caused mayhem as the lines effectively stopped.
Once things were recovering, they apparently ran overlapping shuttles: Acton drivers crewing trains as far as Kings Cross to reverse, Arnos drivers running to Hyde Park to reverse. I’m interested to know if this worked well in practice. Sounded very disruptive.
It appears that there are significantly more power failures now the system taps the National Grid rather than when it produced its own at Lots Road. Was this outsourcing a false economy on behalf of our beloved beancounters?
