I came across this: world.nycsubway.org/perl/show?12482and was quite surprised - the date is April 2000. I thought all the refurbs had been done by then. Does anyone know when the last unrefurbed 73 ran on the Picc?

Come to think of it I'm even more surprised it's got an old type roundel.

The last unrefurbed 73 ran on the Monday morning 21 August 2000. Sadly there was no official recognition of the event by LU and therefore went totally unnoticed. Let's hope the same doesn't happen to the last unrefurbed D Stock.

There are a good number of people around the District with a sufficient sense of history and occasion that I am pretty sure efforts will be made to mark the event. Of course, this is still some time away yet and I think all that can be said is that developments should be awaited.

"The Last Silver Train on the Underground", perhaps? Would a simple end-to-end Special working be instituted, or would there be scope to take a D stock into some 'interesting' locations on the network? I'd certainly like to experience an unrefurb on the Met Main belting along with both flags up...
