we are all familiar with wrongly routed trains ie district line trains at hanger lane junction[sorry dave!]. what about the pic at rayners lane, if an eastbound train proceeds towards harrow-on-the-hill. Does the driver detrain at west harrow or hoth. also are pic drivers passed for this section or do they need a pilotman

Picc trains have accepted the wrong signal at Rayners Lane for Harrow on numerous
occasions. One character at Wood Green did it twice! The correct procedure would
depend on how far the train had gone over the junction as it could be set back.
Otherwise the train would have to proceed to Harrow on the Hill to reverse. Pausing
at West Harrow to detrain the punters and pick up a pilotman. In all my time on the
Picc I've never heard of a Met ending up at South Harrow unlike the District. Anybody
own up to the District who took the wrong route at Hangar Lane this morning ?
Earls Court seemed to think it was a track failure for quite some time.

For that matter, have any districts after a wrong turn had to reverse at Rayners instead of South Harrow?

Anybody own up to the District who took the wrong route at Hangar Lane this morning ? I very much doubt if it was anyone here, the pic Phil recently posted of a D stock at Rayners Lane would have served as a clear warning.

I remember a few years back that there was an incident which shut the Picc line between Rayners Lane and Acton Town. This stranded a Picc EB train at Rayners Lane EB, and was blocking up the Met trains behind it - so they indeed got it piloted to Harrow on the Hill, and put it in the siding there.

Anybody own up to the District who took the wrong route at Hangar Lane this morning ? I am reliably informed, by a DMT that TWO District trains attempted to reclaim that branch today. No idea who was driving, but both trains were crewed from Acton crew depot.

train ** at 0*:49 but did not proceed
train ** at 0*:39 but did proceed
hope that makes good canteen laughs now as im not one to stir things up ;D ;D ;D
In the interests of our security policy I have removed the train numbers to relieve the offenders of unwanted publicity to the general public.
However, in the interests of forum members I (and probably pat ) am qujite prepared to let other members know the train numbers by PM to those that mihgt 'need' them!

Well I can reveal that the second driver had taken great delight in laughing at the first - till they went and did the same thing......
They were both permanent early turn drivers, whom I don't know - which means they are not members of this forum - which is a pity really...... ;D ;D.....

Can't find the thread but in answer to the comment about a 73TS Picc at Ealing Bdwy, I recall that it was photographed and the photo and information appeared in UNDERGROUND NEWS. Basically it was a 'charter' to take footie supporters to Arsenal and ran non-stop.
When I ran UndergrounD I had some photos of a 59TS at High Street Ken etc. being turned having come off the Northern after loan.
