Took the family on an excursion to old London town – it being wonderful weather out there. Chilton coping very well despite a reduced service with busses north of High Wycombe and Marylebone is such a nice terminus to arrive at.
En route to Mr Fayeed’s little corner shop in Knightsbridge and no signs of any problems on the underground – all lines ‘good service’ on the boards at Marylebone but much thanks are due to Bakerloo driver who announced to us the scheduled Picc closure between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town. Should have checked on-line, shouldn't I. Quick change of plan and a diversion to Sloane Square taking in a nice stroll along the Embankment along the way and we arrive after a good walk up Sloane Street.
Great time gawking at the unaffordables – there was a kids car there worth more than both my cars put together! They’ve also started putting prices on the jewellery now – so I reckon the place is going down hill.
Anyhow, with legs starting to complain all round we set of at a leisurely pace for Hyde Park Corner wondering if I will get myself an interesting stock movement and we arrive to find a police car and a locked station – security closure we find out – so that’s my fancy stock move gone and the family is getting mutinous.
Luckily a No. 9 bus arrives proclaiming Piccadilly Circus on the front so we leap on board – first time for family on a London bus so high novelty factor plus a foot relief all round. Great day out though for all of us – thanks guys. All in a day's work I suppose.
PS Explaining to the kids how the Bakerloo is 100 years old when we hit a stretch of track southbound around Regents Park that I swear is that old! ;D
Double D, we looked for you on the Green one but you weren't there
